Giving in Saving Souls -“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
David Livingston, a missionary to Africa once said, “God had an only Son and He was a missionary.” God gave us His only begotten Son to die on the cross in our place so that we can be saved from our sins and be reconciled to Him once again. That was the extent of God’s love and sacrifice for us all.
As recipients of God’s grace, let us also reflect His heart for the world by winning souls back to Him. Let us put every effort to see more people in Tawau and beyond turning to Christ. I call upon every member of St. Patrick’s Church to be diligent in reaching out to the lost. Use whatever skills you have learned for evangelism. You may use Alpha or XEE or simply invite them to our weekend services so that they may experience the reality of God’s word and presence in their lives. Remember the encouragement of the Scripture, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.”
(Proverbs 11:30)
Another important area we must not neglect is prayer. Winning souls needs the intercession of God’s people. Without intercession hearts would not be opened as the Scripture says that the god of this world has blinded them. Therefore I ask you to also commit to praying for the lost in your personal prayer time, in cell groups and in church prayer meetings.
We will be organizing seven cycles of 24/7 prayer for Malaysia. I also encourage you to make every effort to come to one of the 24-hour prayer slots. May I encourage you with Psalm 126:5, “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.”
Let us in this Year of Giving give our time, talent, prayer, and all that we have to “Love God wholeheartedly” and to “Love people fervently”, remembering the exhortation of our Lord Jesus Christ, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lays down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13).
